How do nerve cells function and develop, and how do they communicate? How do brains work, and how have they evolved? What is the nature of consciousness, and the neural basis for behaviors and for human brain dysfunction? These are among the many questions being answered by contemporary neuroscience.

Neuroscience at Trinity College involves faculty from the Departments of Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Philosophy, and Psychology.

Features

The major is designed to give students a fundamental grounding in the sciences, and the flexibility to direct their studies towards cellular/molecular, systems/behavioral or cognitive/clinical aspects of neuroscience.

A major in neuroscience can lead to a career in scientific research, the health professions, education, business, law, or government. The Trinity major also prepares students for further study in graduate school and medical school.

Trinity College accepts the Common Application.

A $65 application fee is required, and must be submitted online through the Common Application.

An official from your school should submit an official transcript that includes course work completed during the equivalent of grades 9 through 11, the Common Application School Report, and a report that shows grades for courses currently in progress.

If you have completed grade 12 and are currently in a postgraduate program at a high school or a foundational pre-college program at a college or university, we require documentation that shows your current academic progress.

We require only one academic recommendation as part of the application file. Recommendations from school counselors, high school teachers, and community-based organizations are welcome.

If you are applying for need-based financial aid, we require the CSS Profile.
