Overview

The chief goal of the Writing BFA Program at Pratt Institute is the creation of well-rounded writers. At the heart of the curriculum are the Writing Studios, through which students progress from elements of style and clarity of expression to more advanced narrative and poetic forms and specialized genres, culminating in the creation of a book-length work of prose, poetry, or experimental form.

Learning outcomes

The practice of writing is reinforced by studies in literature, cultural studies, science and history; by explorations of other art forms; and by opportunities for professional development via internships and colloquia.
