Overview
Internships and Career Opportunities
This Political Science programme from Colorado Mesa University lets students customize their studies around their interests and career goals. The majors work closely with their academic advisor to structure a curriculum that best CMU students greet serves their objectives.
The academic staff can show students which classes will help prepare them for law school or graduate school, for example. The staff can also help students choose courses geared towards careers in public administration, issue advocacy, public policy, global affairs, and countless other careers. The question isn't, "What can I do with a political science degree?" Instead, it's "What can't I do with a political science degree?"
Internships are often the best job preparation undergraduates can get. In fact, many of alumni are now working in careers obtained directly as a result of their internships. The majors intern in a variety of roles, in locations including Washington D.C., Denver, and Grand Junction.
Graduates of this major will be able to:
- Critically analyze the theories and concepts relevant to political science (specialized knowledge);
- Defend a political argument using established methods (empirical and normative) in the field of political science (intellectual skills, communication fluency);
- Articulate diverse perspective surrounding a political issue (critical thinking);
- Devise a strategy to promote civic involvement within the broader community for themselves and others (civic engagement)
