Spanish at the Marshall University not only hones students’ Spanish language skills, but allows them to experience different cultures and develop critical thinking and their powers of observation, analysis, logical reasoning, memory and adaptability. Careers

With a bachelor’s degree in Spanish, or a double major or a minor in Spanish, the career possibilities are unlimited for Marshall students. A Spanish bachelor’s degree or minor gives Spanish B.A. graduates increased career opportunities in the fields of:

Language, such as interpreters, translators, editors for textbooks, language instructors and teachers of English as a second language.

Business, including trade, firms, the financial industry, factories, quality control, public relations and much more.

Law, including jobs in law enforcement, various positions in a court house, lawyers and paralegals.

Health care, such as nurses, doctors, assistants and other health professions that interact with the public.

Service fields, including customer service, human resources and sales.

Education. Not only teachers but counselors can benefit from a proficiency in Spanish.

Government positions, such as diplomats and various other government workers at the local, state, national or international level.

Mass communications, including web creation and journalism and more.
