Field Experience
- Students in B.S. in Special Education Learning and Behavior Disorders Program complete more than 200 hours of field experience in general education classrooms and in public school programs.
- In addition to the observations and field experience embedded in specific coursework, students also complete a practicum just prior to student teaching in public schools or in EKU's Model Laboratory School and then complete student teaching placements in the public schools.
Where Are Recent Graduates Employed?
- Recent graduates of this program are employed as general educators, special educators, special education consultants for state departments of education, and special education administrators.
- Some have continued their academic studies and are currently university faculty members at other institutions of higher education.
- Outside of traditional educational settings, some graduates have gone on to become teachers in state corrections facilities.

General requirements
- Fill out the free online application. Students must indicate the major they wish to pursue in order for an I-20 to be issued.
- Submit a copy of your valid passport
- Submit transcripts:
- Complete secondary school records reflecting a cumulative grade of 75% (2.5 GPA equivalent) or higher.
- Submit an official copy of your high school diploma or graduation certificate (if applicable).
- Provide a declaration of finances - A Certificate of Eligibility (I-20 or DS-2019) will not be authorized until financial verification is received. Providing false information may jeopardize visa status and result in the University revoking acceptance. U.S. immigration law requires international students to prove they have funds available for their educational and living expenses.
