Overview
Key Features
- Students in our department are interested in how governments are structured, how they should be structured, what policies they adopt, how power is distributed and what motivates political behavior. We offer a wide variety of courses in American politics, public administration, comparative politics, international relations and political theory. These courses emphasize critical thinking, oral communication, writing and research skills.
- Besides a Political Science major at the University of Northern Iowa, we also offer two unique undergraduate programs. The interdisciplinary political communication degree is designed for those interested in the creation, dissemination and effects of political information. Public administration students study management, policies and decision-making in the public, nonprofit and private sectors.
