Overview
Strong, ethical managers are sought by organizations everywhere. The Palumbo-Donahue School of Business from Duquesne University provides Management majors with core courses and electives designed to make you marketable in a variety of careers.
Combining this knowledge with that of another functional area of business, such as marketing or information systems, will better prepare you for successful careers in your desired fields.
Management faculty initiate you to best practices of leadership, business-government relations, sustainability, critical decision-making, organizational behavior and strategic project management and more while guiding you in how to apply such skills in today's economy. You are encouraged to join the student business association, the Society for the Advancement of Management (S.A.M.) and to take advantage of internship opportunities to help sharpen both personal and professional talents necessary for a successful career in management.
Career Development
Students enrolled in Duquesne's Palumbo School of Business are focused on beginning a career, not simply getting a job. Helping students achieve success from the start is a priority at the University's Career Services Center. Taking a dual approach to aiding business students, the Career Services Center provides career preparation programs tailored to meet the needs of each student while fostering key relationships with businesses and organizations that are potential internship sites and future employers.
In addition to the career preparation programs provided by the Career Services Center, the following are specifically for Palumbo School students:
- Professional Video Training Assistance Program (PROVITA) - an individualized video training program that guides students in perfecting their job interviewing skills
- Corporate Video Conferencing - prospective employers from anywhere in the world can use this system to conduct first-time interviews with Palumbo School students while they are on campus
- Career Coaching -- one-on-one sessions with the director of Career Development, focusing on strategies for developing resumes and procedures for responding to career opportunities posted on the Internet
