The BSc Fire Safety (Management) (Top-Up) (Hons) course from University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) builds confidence and capability through the development of a range of competences and underpinning knowledge for practising professionals in the field of fire safety management.
You will have access to excellent facilities including purpose-built fire laboratories, supported by state-of-the-art analytical and material characterisation facilities for fire chemistry and fire safety engineering and Computational Fluid Dynamics facilities for fire modelling.
Students are encouraged to seek summer placements within supporting fire industries and every effort is made to assist in this important aspect of development and service integration. International opportunities include travel and work placement with ‘Operation Florian’ which is a charitable organisation working to improve fire service infrastructures in countries where they are lacking. Recent deployments have been to Zimbabwe.
There is the potential for international exchange visits with other universities or with international fire safety companies, especially construction-based companies.
We have partner colleges/universities in the Middle-East and Hong Kong where English is widely spoken and there is the potential for exchange visits. Other exchanges and schemes such as ERASMUS are available.
