According one survey, Biologists have the highest job satisfaction of any career. Why? It's because biology is inherently interesting, the questions and problems that biologists work on are often vitally important, and if that wasn't enough, biologists are also moderately well paid.
In today's job market, most Professional Biologists need advanced degrees or specific training. The B.S. in Biological Sciences at Mississippi State University should be viewed as a pre-professional degree that prepares the student for either advanced study in the biological sciences or specific training in a profession (such as in medicine, therapy, law, education, engineering, or business).
The vision of the Department of Biological Sciences at Mississippi State University is to develop a strong regional and national reputation as a research-active biology department and to leverage our strengths in research to deliver a high-quality comprehensive education in the biological sciences.
