Past excursions include a visit to the Indians stadium, the Indianapolis Museum of Art, Churchill Downs, the Louisville Slugger Museum, the Crystal Tea Room, Half Moon Brewery, the Kokomo Country Club, plus many more! With each trip and visit, you’ll learn to apply what you read, discuss, and learn in the classroom to the real-life things you experience with your professors and peers.

The faculty in hospitality and tourism management come with a wealth of knowledge from study, teaching, and working in the industry themselves. They’re ready to meet you, connect, call you by name, and prepare you for life after graduation.

Whether your goal is the become a beer and spirits manager or to be in charge of planning events, conferences, and conventions, the Department of Hospitality and Tourism is where you belong. You can earn a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality and Tourism Management or add our minor to your course of study.

You can expect a classroom experience that is dynamic; we bring Indiana University Kokomo students and faculty together from diverse backgrounds, both professionally and culturally, as we learn to create experiences together.

Programme Structure

Students who complete the B.S. in Hospitality and Tourism degree program will acquire proficiency in the following areas:

basic principles that underlie the industry

food and beverage operations

financial and accounting reports for the industry, including costs, revenues, and profits

the interrelationships of hospitality functional areas in guest satisfaction

legal, ethical, social and international topics affecting the industry

national, international and intercultural factors on the industry

communication differences among cultures and socio-economic classes and how these impact the industry

ethics and its impact on industry leadership and decision-making

human resource management

organizational effectiveness

industry marketing

strategic application of communication message format

Submit a scanned copy of the transcripts into Atlas for an admission decision, the Official Transcripts must be present to OISS before class registration. All test scores must be sent directly from the testing center.
