Overview

In 2018, the Council on Education for Public Health accredited the BSPH program for a five-year term, extending to July 1, 2023. The CEPH accreditation is retroactive to prior BSPH degree recipients. The degree is granted to students who are admitted to the BSPH Program and successfully complete general education requirements and 30-credits in designated core and elective undergraduate courses. The first cohort of BSPH students at the SONHS began in Fall 2012.

The primary mission of the faculty of the Public Healtg degree program at University of Miami is to develop competencies in public health among undergraduate students, equip undergraduate students for entry-level public health positions, and prepare undergraduate students to pursue graduate studies in public health and related fields. Students will be exposed to major public health issues locally, nationally and globally.

The curriculum is designed to introduce students to the core areas of public health—including epidemiology, environmental health, social and behavioral health, global health and health policy—and to prepare students to work with communities in ways that are evidence-based and culturally competent.

Mission

The Mission of the School of Nursing and Health Studies is to educate students and support faculty committed to excellence in the art and science of nursing and health studies through creating and disseminating health knowledge and developing culturally competent leaders to provide safe service to our community, the nation and the world. The University of Miami School of Nursing and Health Studies offers courses leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Public Health. Baccalaureate education provides the foundation for further education in Public Health and/or other specialized health professional fields.

Complete and submit the Common Application. Upon submitting, you will be asked to pay a $70 nonrefundable application fee.

If you have attended a secondary school outside of the United States, you must submit your official secondary school documents (transcripts, mark sheets, certificates, examination results, etc.)

We require you to submit two letters of recommendation: one from a high school guidance counselor and one from a teacher.

The University of Miami is need-aware for first-year international undergraduate applicants. This means that, for a portion of international applicants, the Admission Committee will consider that student’s ability to pay tuition without the need for financial aid.
