Overview

Established in 1948 as South Florida’s first baccalaureate nursing program, the School of Nursing and Health Studies has a rich tradition of preparing health professionals to provide compassionate, quality care to local and global communities.

Located at the crossroads of the Caribbean and the Americas, the University of Miami provides a unique multicultural environment in which to study and practice. The school serves some of the most multiethnic, multicultural, health at-risk communities in the nation.

Our Traditional BSN program at University of Miami is affiliated with a major academic medical center; a private, acute care hospital; and a public teaching hospital system.

Mission

The mission of the School of Nursing and Health Studies (SONHS) is to educate students and support faculty committed to the art and science of nursing and health care studies through creating and disseminating health knowledge and developing culturally competent leaders to provide safe service to our community, the nation, and the world.

Complete and submit the Common Application. Upon submitting, you will be asked to pay a $70 nonrefundable application fee.

If you have attended a secondary school outside of the United States, you must submit your official secondary school documents (transcripts, mark sheets, certificates, examination results, etc.)

We require you to submit two letters of recommendation: one from a high school guidance counselor and one from a teacher.

The University of Miami is need-aware for first-year international undergraduate applicants. This means that, for a portion of international applicants, the Admission Committee will consider that student’s ability to pay tuition without the need for financial aid.
