Overview

The Production BFA from University of Wisconsin Milwaukee utilizes the foundation of theatre to explore the uniquely collaborative artistic and artisanal processes that create and support compelling storytelling in live performance. The program allows for specialization in the areas of costumes, lighting, properties, scenery, sound/video and stage management but is flexible enough for cross disciplinary studies tailored to the student’s specific interests.

Professional Training

The practical application of learning is critical in this program and students are immediately immersed in the creation of public performance as freshmen. Our students go on to not only work at major regional theaters but in many related industries, including but not limited to theme parks, ceremonial/presentational event production, concerts, television, architectural installation, film, internet distributed content, professional sports, cruise ships and museum theatre.

Collaborative Leadership

Students are guided through the process of self critique to successfully evaluate and interpret complex problems, as well as prescribe solutions to fulfill the vision of a director or designer. The program aspires to not only strengthen each student’s ability to collaborate in a production team setting, but to also graduate effective leaders who can articulately express oneself for professional employment or advanced graduate study.
