The term "liberal arts" can simply refer to the disciplines of the humanities, social sciences and sciences, but in this case, it refers more generally to a curriculum designed to provide a foundation of knowledge of culture (humanities), society (social sciences) and science (sciences) while developing intellectual and practical skills (critical thinking, ethical thinking, analytical thinking, problem solving and effective communication) that can be applied in real-world settings.
