Overview

The Chinese program at the University of Hawaii at Manoa provides both introductory survey coverage and advanced, theme-specific investigations of the literary cultures of East Asia and the linguistic analysis of Chinese. Cultural awareness, as well as language proficiency, are further promoted through extra-curricular activities such as student clubs, video/film showings, lectures, and study abroad programs.

The graduate programs are designed to provide students with advanced professional training in language/linguistics and literary studies.

Career Opportunities
