The University of Brighton has been part of the city of Brighton & Hove since 1859, starting as a school of art in the kitchens of the Royal Pavilion. Today, it is a diverse and inclusive institution made up of approximately 17,000 students and 2,000 staff and spread across three campuses in Brighton.

The university understands that finding the right type of accommodation is very important is highly important to international students. A dedicated Accommodation team ensure all students have access to good quality, affordable and safe accommodation.
Brighton guarantees accommodation in halls of residence to all eligible first-year students that apply by the deadline. All three campuses have halls of residence located on-campus on close by.
If you would prefer to live in privately rented accommodation, they can also provide support and advice.
Brighton students can access libraries located on all three campuses. Designed to support your learning, each location has friendly team of library helpdesk and subject specialist staff that can offer 1-2-1 support. You will also find as a vast collection of print, eBooks and online journals as well as group study rooms that allow you to work collaboratively further support your studies.
There are spacious computer rooms on each campus with both desktop and laptop space for all your ICT needs, as well as support staff available to help you.
Some courses use specialist IT programmes, such as Abode Creative Cloud software on creative courses in the School of Art and Media, or the Bloomberg trading room in the School of Business and Law for finance students.
All new students are encouraged to register with a local doctor’s practice when they arrive. There is an on-site medical centre on Moulsecoomb campus for convenience, or students can register with a local practice close to where they live.
International students are invited to join an orientation session where guidance is provided on how to register with the UK’s National Health Service (NHS).
The university has three campuses across Brighton.
City campus is a short walk from the city centre. Home to the School of Art and Media, this campus is a creative environment with dedicated workshops and studio space.
Moulsecoomb campus is the largest of the three campuses. There has been lots of recent development, including the provision of 800 student accommodation rooms, a new gym and students’ union bar, plus new buildings and facilities.
Falmer campus is located on the edge of beautiful countryside and easily accessible by public transport. Next to Brighton & Hove Albion football club’s stadium, the campus has recently undergone significant renovations to build a host of new sporting facilities.
Sport Brighton has two physical locations that are open to students, staff and the wider community. The new Brighton Sport and Health Complex on Falmer campus is equipped with state-of-the-art gym equipment, a dance and fitness studio, two indoor sports courts, martial art and gymnastics areas.
On Moulsecoomb campus there is a gym, with a range of classes and personal training sessions.
In addition to facilities, Sport Brighton has various leagues and sporting clubs for students looking to join a sports team.
Brighton Students’ Union has more than 100 different societies that students can join. There’s everything from religious societies, to subject area societies, cultural groups and hobby-based societies.

My experience with the University of Brighton is extremely positive. I believe this university focused wholly on its student experience. My course, Film (BA) is well played out, has focuses in every area of film and sets each student up to have a wide range of experience when graduating. There is plenty of equipment throughout each campus for every course. I have never felt unequipped to take on a project and I have built experience with almost all of the equipment the university has to offer. Additionally, each member of staff is friendly, caring and consistent. They are always there to support their students, provide advice and communicate. Moreover, I am always surrounded by people on my, and similar courses. This builds my motivation and support network as many have similar projects and deadlines, helping us all to work together and support one another. Brighton itself is a friendly, sunny and busy city that is not as expensive as people say. There is plenty of student deals and support, making it a comfortable city to live in. Moreover, there are plenty of societies and competitions to take part in, plenty of student jobs and volunteering opportunities with a large amount of staff to support these. It is an excellent establishment in every way.
I am currently studying Marketing at the University of Brighton, and overall my experience has been positive, particularly in terms of the practical and creative aspects of the course. One of the things I value most is how the course combines theory with real-world application. Modules such as Professional Marketing Practice and Understanding Markets and Consumers have helped me build a strong foundation, while also encouraging me to think about how marketing works in real business contexts. There is a clear focus on developing skills that are relevant to future careers, such as teamwork, presenting ideas, and analysing audiences. The lecturers are generally supportive and approachable, and there are opportunities to ask for help and feedback when needed. I�ve found that being proactive makes a big difference in getting the most out of the course. Brighton itself is also a great place to study. It�s a creative and diverse city, which reflects well in the university environment. There are lots of opportunities to get involved in societies and extracurricular activities. I am part of the Islamic Society, where I contribute to creating promotional content and supporting events, which has helped me develop my communication and teamwork skills outside of my degree. If I had to highlight one challenge, it would be that like many universities, your experience depends on how much effort you put in. Independent learning is important, so staying organised and motivated is key. Overall, I would recommend the University of Brighton to students who are interested in a creative and practical approach to learning, and who are willing to take initiative and make the most of the opportunities available.
I really enjoyed my course but the teaching wasn't of the highest standard. The eastbourne campus was very nice and the people around the campus looking after it were really friendly and nice and it was a short walk into town with some lovely pubs.
