Overview
You’ll benefit from industry guest speakers from companies such as Harley Davidson and field trips, from Warner Bros. Harry Potter Studio Tour to projects further afield in the Gambia. You will gain practical experience to plan and execute your own event, and the optional placement year is an excellent opportunity to build contacts and gain an advantage in the job market. International Event Management with Marketing (Hons) is offered by University of Brighton .
The style of teaching will differ according to module, but it will involve lectures, seminars, group exercises, case studies and student presentations. Your contact hours will gradually reduce over three years as you learn to work more independently.
Although you will be assessed by essays and exams, we will also test your ability to work in teams, give presentations and appraise the work of fellow students. These methods of assessment are intended to reflect real-life management practices.
Careers
Event management offers growing and varied career opportunities, ranging from organising a small business conference to masterminding a major music festival. In charge of both planning and execution, professional event managers have responsibilities that shift with every project.
The course provides subject knowledge and expertise, opportunities to put what you learn into practice and work-related experience. You'll also develop transferable personal skills in teamwork, and project and time management that will be valued wherever your career takes you.
You'll work on your employability from your first year through a mixture of academic and vocational modules. You are strongly encouraged to take work placements during holidays and the placement year option provides invaluable real-world experience.
