Now home to over 19,500 students from over 140 countries, the university first welcomed 800 students as Napier Technical College in 1964. However our story goes back to the time of John Napier, the brilliant 16th-century mathematician and philosopher from whom we take our name.

Housing services

Edinburgh Napier currently houses 1500 students over 4 sites in and around the city centre. Their accommodation is affordable, modern and supported by a dedicated team of University staff.

Library services

As an Edinburgh Napier student you’ll have access to:

    over 200,000 print and audio-visual learning and research materials;more than 32,000 full-text ejournals and magazines on and off campus;84,000 eBooks, which you can read online;our search tool for books, eBooks, online articles and requests;a mix of quiet and silent study areas for individual and group work.

On campus you’ll have access to more than 1,600 PCs and 200 Macs.

Medical services

At Edinburgh Napier they don't just teach you the theory. We go beyond the classroom, teaching you in NHS simulation wards to give you the skills and confidence to master your vocation in a supportive environment. This means that as soon as you leave us you're ready to start changing lives.

Campus life

They have three distinct campuses across Edinburgh with excellent facilities to meet your needs. You’ll be based primarily in one campus depending on your course choice, but you’re welcome to explore all our locations and use the facilities at each:

    Craiglockhart; Sighthill; Merchiston; Screen Academy Scotland.

Sports facilities

[EN]GAGE is our state-of-the-art sports facilities, open to members, students, staff and the public to provide a fitness experience that's fresh, invigorating and fun.They have modern sports facilities including a fitness suite and flexible sports hall which are available to use. You can book our hall for a variety of sporting activities such as football, netball, trampolining and wrestling.

Student clubs

Edinburgh Napier Students’ Association (ENSA) is your students’ union, and all Edinburgh Napier University students, part time or full time, are members of it. 

Ensa is yours, student-led, democratic, independent, diverse, representative, active, caring, a provider of volunteering and development opportunities, a friendly face.

The university has excellent lecturers and professors with enormous knowledge and experience. All of them are polite, friendly and cooperative to all students. The library of the university is full of all required facilities, the computers are fast with a high rating of wifi.

My overall experience was very positive. The campus is very modern and well-equipped. Most lecturers are passionate about their subject and always try to help students when someone is confused or need extra support. I really enjoyed my time at Edinburgh Napier University.
