About

History

The founding of IIUM was first proposed by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, during a visit to the United Arab Emirates in January 1982.

Education

Provide conducive Shared Learning ecosystem geared towards the convergence of knowledge founded on the Tawhid in realising "comprehensive excellence".

Research

Research Management Centre of the International Islamic University Malaysia was established by the University Senate in 1991. The main objective of its establishment was to promote and coordinate the research activities of the University

Services

Housing services

Since the early years of its establishment, IIUM has practiced 100% accommodation for its full time undergraduate students. For postgraduate students, accommodation is provided based on availability of rooms. Priority is given to the non-Malaysian students, especially students from the newest intake.

Currently, IIUM has 16 mahallahs that accommodate about 14,000 students from various countries and cultures. Each mahallah is lead by a Principal and assisted by administrative staff and fellows. The staff concentrates on the administrative and maintenance needs of the mahallah, while the fellows focus on students' matters and activities.

Library services

The University library system consists of five libraries at each of the University's five campuses: the Main Library at the Gombak campus, two Medical libraries in the Kuantan campus (Indera Mahkota and Jalan Hospital branches), the ISTAC Library at Damansara, the IIBF Library at Jalan Duta and the Centre for Foundation Studies (CENFOS) Library at Petaling Jaya and Nilai.

ICT services

IIUM is committed to providing continuous internet services to all its campuses and facilities by providing broadband and wifi access to all its students and staff members. IIUM is also continuously expanding its internet services and facilities to meet connectivity demands through its various upgrading projects.

Medical services

The IIUM Medical Centre was built based on the Private Funding Initiative  with 25-year concession agreement, on 27.8 acress of land, equipped with 350 beds for inpetiets and supported by more than 133 specialists.

It also includes the development of an undergraduate and postgraduate teaching hospital and tertiary referral centre, complementing the medical and allied health faculty provisions.

IIUM has several campuses, facilities and institutions spread across several states of Malaysia, each with their own specialisations and purposes. These campuses are:

Sports facilities

IIUM provides a wide variety of sports and recreational facilities and services across its campuses, in order to encourage productive and constructive leisure activities amongst its students. This is to realize the vision to produce students with holistic personalities, as well as promote an active and healthy lifestyle amongst the IIUM community.

Well, the journey was not so good as well as not so bad. Can be said average. Most of my classes were combined with local students as I am the only one taking accounting from my batch so there were no international students. So, I had to face problem in grouping etc. As the local prefers their own smell. My first year was okay cause in the first year all my batch mates...

Yeah its a great experience to studying here.All the teachers and staffs are much cordial and helpfu. Besides this the environment of that University is student friendl. In a word its a great journey here.
