Western Reserve College was founded in 1826 in Hudson, Ohio, about 30 miles southeast of Cleveland. The college—the first in northern Ohio—took its name from the surrounding region (known at that time as the Western Reserve of Connecticut) and emphasized standards, such as the classics, in its curriculum.

Case Western Reserve University has been accredited since 1913 by the Higher Learning Commission, one of the six regional agencies that accredit U.S. colleges and universities at the institutional level. In 2015 CWRU was reaccredited by the Commission for ten years, the maximum period possible. The university's next site visit by a Commission team will be in 2025.

I liked that you can always change your major. It gives you more opportunity to explore more options. It may be harder to make new friends than some other universities given its location and weather. But overall, I made some good memories and enjoyed learning here. Curriculum is not that bad but I don't like how it's always changing. As same for other schools, some professors are nice and some aren't.
Great school, really happy with everything I was able to achieve here. Really supportive advisors and mentors, and fellow students are overwhelmingly friendly and nice to be around. Cleveland is an underappreciated city, and I enjoyed getting to explore it a bit.
I've really had a great time as a student here. This is due to Western Reserve University's willingness to accept international students and its availability of accommodations, friendly and knowledgeable instructors, and courses. Furthermore, �case western reserve university possesses state of the art facilities such as updated libraries, labs, dorms and research centers. This place seems to offer the ideal balance of intellectual challenge and personal development. The instructors were friendly and often challenged my critical and imaginative thinking.
