History
The first degree-conferring program of the university started in 1901, with the formation of California's first evening law school. By offering classes at night, Golden Gate made legal studies available to the common person. Four students comprised the law school's first graduating class.
Education
GGU is California's fourth oldest private university, enrolling thousands of students and representing more than 68,000 alumni. The university's main campus is located in San Francisco with additional teaching sites in Seattle and Silicon Valley. In addition to evening and weekend classes, most courses and degrees are offered entirely online.

Golden Gate University strives to satisfy your needs as a student to ensure your success — in a convenient, personalized and pleasing way.
Housing services
GGU is not currently partnered with student housing services, however, there are a few options available in San Francisco and the East Bay that we could recommend, depending on what you are looking for.
Library services
Golden Gate University has two libraries. The Business Library serves the entire university community, and the Law Library serves the students, staff and faculty at the School of Law. The two libraries share an online catalog which points to available resources including online books and journals. Each library also has its own set of databases, research guides, and other resources.
Medical services
The Golden Gate University School of Law does not require -- but strongly encourages -- students to have health insurance coverage throughout law school. Accidents and illnesses can happen, and having insurance can help you keep your focus on law school and avoid large medical bills.
Campus life
With many classes offered online, a main campus in downtown San Francisco, and three West Coast teaching sites, Golden Gate University is committed to offering you flexible and convenient programs.
Student clubs
GGU Law students take an active role in shaping our close-knit campus community. A diverse array of student organizations offers students the chance to build both their social and professional networks.
Accreditation
GGU is accredited by WASC Senior College and University Commission, the organization that accredits universities in California and Hawaii, including Stanford, University of San Francisco, UC Berkeley, San Jose State. GGU has never chosen to apply for the optional AACSB accreditation because its requirements are not consistent with our mission and commitment to have students learn from former and current practitioners rather than pure scholars.

A Rewarding and Life-Changing Study Experience
Choosing where to study was not easy for me because there were many options to consider such as the quality of education, environment, and career opportunities. After doing a lot of research, I decided on a school that offered strong academic support and practical learning in my field. My experience so far has been very valuable. I have learned not only theoretical knowledge but also practical skills that are useful in real-world situations. The lecturers are supportive, and the learning environment encourages growth and creativity. One thing I appreciate most about my study experience is the opportunity to meet people from different backgrounds and share ideas. It has helped me grow academically and personally.
