Housing services

As you prepare for your study abroad adventure, one of the key things on your to-do list is to find student housing. But don't worry, we're here to help! We've worked out several routes to help you find a cozy place to call home, check our website for more information.

Library services

The libraries are high-quality departments within Van Hall Larenstein. They are intensively used as places where users can meet, study, lounge and hold a meeting. The media collection is suited to the needs of the various study programmes at each campus location.

Campus life

The modern Velp campus building is situated at the beautiful Larenstein Estate, surrounded by lush greenery and just a few minutes from Arnhem's vibrant city center.

With lively nightlife on the Korenmarkt, the Rijn river, and various student associations, Arnhem is a dynamic and multicultural city with many great initiatives. The Arnhem region offers parks perfect for strolling and relaxing. Discover Arnhem's fashion scene in the Modekwartier or its rich history on a city walk or the Liberation Route, which features monuments from the Battle of Arnhem. Nearby is the breathtaking Veluwezoom, ideal for walking and cycling through the beautiful heathland and past historic castles.

Student clubs

With study and student associations, you quickly get to know a fun group of people. It's enjoyable, but also very useful for finding a part-time job or a room. Additionally, they organise cool activities almost weekly, such as parties, excursions, cosy dinners, and interesting lectures. A student association focuses more on 'social' activities, while study associations are often linked to a specific field of study. In Velp/Arnhem, you can choose from a wide range of student and study associations. For example, Ambrosia: VHL’s international study association. It’s for VHL students to connect, share, network, exchange, collaborate, and communicate.

Accreditation

All our 4-year Bachelor programmes result in a Bachelor of Science (BSc) or a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree.

All study programmes at VHL are accredited by the Accreditation Organisation of the Netherlands and Flanders (NVAO). This is the official organisation responsible for evaluating the quality of higher education institutions in the Netherlands.

During the SustainaBul 2024, Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences was named the most sustainable higher education institution in the Netherlands. Already for the fourth time (in 2020, 2022, 2023, and 2024).

Understanding your course

I always say that when you choose a university you must first understand what is it that you will be studying and is it better to take a Degree of that course or a National Diploma because that�s the main baseline. Vaal university of technology is the best when coming to science and engineering most companies prefers students that are from a technical background instead of theoretical background. Do your research and find out that are your best skill set. From my experience I had great lectures, from the MD to the Dean. I would have loved to do my Master with them, unfortunately I have branched out to Pharmacy from Chemistry.

A Journey of Growth Beyond the Classroom.

My university experience was a period of intense growth, self-discovery, and learning far beyond the lecture hall. When I first started, I believed uni was mainly about passing modules and earning a qualification. Over time, I realized it was also about learning how to manage pressure, navigate uncertainty, and take responsibility for my own future. The university pushed me to think independently and problem-solve on my own. There were moments of self-doubt, long nights spent meeting deadlines, and times when balancing academics with personal life felt overwhelming. However, those challenges taught me discipline, resilience, and the importance of consistency. I learned that progress doesn�t always come from motivation alone, but from showing up even when things feel difficult. One of the most valuable lessons uni taught me was adaptability. I had to adjust to different teaching styles, work with diverse people, and handle situations where things didn�t go as planned. This experience helped me build confidence in my ability to learn new skills and adapt to changing environments, which I now see as essential for life beyond university. Overall, my university journey shaped my mindset, strengthened my work ethic, and prepared me for real-world challenges. It wasn�t always easy, but it played a major role in helping me grow into a more focused, self-aware, and determined individual.

One of the best universities for an IT degree

My experience with them has been the best; they offer diversity in terms of what is being taught in the IT field, which in turn sets you up for success. The programme itself provides different spectrums of IT, and it is not dimensional, which allows one to choose what they would like to specialize in, in the long run
