Nature around the world is under pressure, but you can help change that. In International Nature Conservation, you learn how to protect biodiversity, restore ecosystems and manage nature sustainably. You explore how climate change, deforestation and global supply chains affect both nature and people, and discover how they are all connected. You also learn why local and Indigenous knowledge is essential for successful nature conservation. Working on real-world challenges, you discover how to bring communities, governments, NGOs and businesses together to create solutions that work for both people and nature. Along the way, you develop the practical skills and international perspective you need to contribute to a fairer, more sustainable future.

Job opportunities

With International Nature Conservation, you can work for international NGOs, governments, consultancies or organisations such as the United Nations. You could work as:

• Project manager at WWF or Wetlands International: lead projects that protect wildlife, restore forests or wetlands, and work with local communities to find sustainable solutions.
• Consultant at UNDP: advise on projects that help communities protect nature and adapt to challenges such as drought, flooding and climate change.
• Nature conservation adviser: help governments, NGOs or businesses develop practical plans to protect biodiversity and manage natural areas sustainably.

Accreditation

All study programmes at Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences always have up-to-date accreditation from the official Accreditation Organisation of the Netherlands and Flanders (NVAO). All programmes are reviewed every six years by a NVAO-approved panels of independent experts.
