Overview

Politics with International Relations (Hons) at  University of York  has been designed to provide clear and ambitious learning outcomes. These learning outcomes give you an understanding of what you will be able to do at the end of the course. We develop each course by designing modules that grow your abilities towards the learning outcomes and help you to explain what you can offer to employers.

• Understand the origins, evolution and contemporary dynamics of politics with an in-depth engagement with its international dimensions.
• Apply theories, concepts and methods to aspects of politics and international relations, using critical reasoning and (where appropriate) empirical testing to evaluate their strengths and weaknesses.
• Research independently by: conceiving research questions; explaining the use of theories and concepts; selecting and applying appropriate tools to gather and interpret data; and justifying conclusions.
• Achieve goals by demonstrating initiative, self-organization, and time management in individual or collaborative work.
• Communicate effectively and fluently, translating advanced ideas through appropriate media and a range of formats.
• Demonstrate intercultural awareness and a reflective approach to differing visions of the public good in light of the values of tolerance and inclusivity.
