Overview
Designed for students with a Level 5 qualification, such as an HND in Engineering, and developed with HETA, Mechanical Engineering (Top-Up) (Hons) at University of Hull provides a part-time progression route that supports regional talent and creates pathways to degree-level qualifications.
This two year top-up degree is designed to help you take your career to the next level. Unlike traditional programmes that require separate work placements, you’ll draw on your current professional experience as a foundation for your academic learning. This makes the course especially suited to those already working in engineering or related fields who are ready to progress into senior or specialist roles.
You’ll be supported every step of the way through:
Integrated Professional Development, helping you link theory with your day-to-day work.
University Support Services, offering academic guidance and career advice tailored to your goals.
Applied Assessment Strategy, ensuring your assignments reflect the kind of real engineering challenges you’ll face in your profession.
Future prospects
Mechanical engineers are involved in almost everything we use. From nanotechnology to healthcare equipment to planes, windfarms and even spacecraft.
Your transferable skills will open up careers across a range of industries. And with a national shortage of engineers, you're likely to be in high demand. Our graduates have gone on to work with BAE Systems, British Energy, the Royal Navy, Williams F1, Rolls-Royce, and more.
