Overview
Studying the Violin at Oberlin College & Conservatory means immersing yourself in opportunities to play diverse repertoire and work with highly esteemed faculty.
Whether you envision yourself as a soloist, chamber artist, or full-size orchestra performer, you’ll find incredible spaces and facilities for rehearsing, learning, and nurturing your career as a musician.
With an undergraduate-focused program, our goal is to cultivate your virtuosity and build meaningful connections through private lessons, coaching, instrumental technique, and more.
Large ensembles
Oberlin boasts several premier large ensembles, so you have ample opportunities every semester to perform and train for a career in full-size concert halls. The Oberlin Orchestra, for example, is an undergraduate ensemble that can be heard on several recordings and has embarked on national and international tours during Winter Term. From classical to contemporary selections, you’ll play from a wide range of musical traditions, helping you grow into an accomplished, well-rounded artist.
During your four years of study, you’ll play in large ensembles all eight semesters.
