On the successful completion of our building surveying degree, you'll have experience and knowledge in fields such as building conservation, property law and analysis of building problems (building pathology). Learning these skills will enable your career in building surveying to flourish.

Our building surveying degree has been mapped to the requirements of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and we are seeking accreditation from this key professional body. Many other courses within London Met’s School of the Built Environment are already accredited by RICS.

Building Surveyors are involved in a wide range of property and construction activities, from design through to operation of buildings and built environment assets. This building surveying degree course is designed to help you develop in-depth knowledge within the field. Modules you'll undertake in this course include Real Estate Law and Planning, Urban Regeneration and Sustainable Built Environments. You’ll share some first-year modules with students on other courses in the School of the Built Environment, to create a rich learning experience.

Further into your degree, you'll cover subjects such as net-zero in construction, adapting to climate change, sustainable building refurbishment, specification writing, how to administer a construction contract and some of the specialist areas of building surveying such as the Law of Dilapidations and party walls.
