Overview
The course seeks to develop the intellectual and process-based abilities of each participant, while simultaneously introducing each individual to their own interests, passions, aspirations and inspirations.
Educational Opportunity
Drawing on a number of pedagogical practices, experienced tutors and visiting practitioners, the Foundation Course from Architectural Association offers a unique cross-disciplinary education within the context of an architectural school.
Programme Structure
- Term 1 focuses on the development of skills, observation and conversation though the forensic examination of the notion of self as a series of abstractions, considering our traction, interaction and responsibilities in relation to our locale.
- Term 2 focuses more substantially on work that will clarify a territory of specific interest for each student.
- Term 3 focuses on exhibition design and a group build, followed by the design and compilation of a final portfolio of work created during the academic year for assessment. Finally, students and staff will collectively build the Foundation exhibition for AA Projects Review at the end of the academic year.
