Overview
The Business Law and Management (Hons) degree from Cardiff Metropolitan University is recognised by the Institute of Legal Secretaries and PAs (ILSPA) and the Council for Licensed Conveyancers (CLC), and will enable you to develop a customisable skill-set while still fulfilling the specific requirements of a specialist legal career. Our mantra is 'Get Competent, Get Qualified, Get Hired.'
You will put legal theory to practice in our purpose-built mock courtroom and develop your knowledge and employability in the fields of business and management.
We aim to create an open, supportive, and intellectually stimulating environment which will enable you to investigate the interrelation of law and business through modules designed in line with the needs of industry.
CareersThrough this degree in Business Law and Management, you will be encouraged to develop the key legal competences, including leadership, empathy, research and advocacy. An optional work placement ("sandwich") year between your second and final year further enhances employability. Selecting the sandwich option will help you practice your new skills in a real-life legal setting and will enable you to stand out from other candidates when you apply for jobs.On graduating, and thanks to our pioneering partnership with the Institute of Legal Secretaries and PAs (ILSPA), you will receive exemptions from ILSPA's Legal Secretaries Diploma course, which you will then be able to take, if you wish, at a discounted price. Alternatively or in addition, you will have the opportunity to take one of the Council for Licensed Conveyancers (CLC)'s vocational exams between your first year and your second year, or between your second year and your third year, and this will give you a possibility – depending how you arrange your placement year – of graduating ready-certified as a Probate Technician.Beyond the professional qualifications, you will also have many other options for further study when you graduate. These include – at Cardiff Met – an MBA, or an MSc in International Business Management, Human Resource Management or Project Management.
