Course description
The Dental Hygiene and Therapy programme at The University of Manchester will give you the skills you need to register with the General Dental Council as a dental therapist or dental hygienist.The course takes a holistic approach to primary dental care. You will be trained to undertake a number of clinical procedures, such as periodontal treatment, simple fillings, dental radiographs and the extraction of primary teeth.
You will also develop excellent communication skills to motivate and encourage patients to develop good oral health habits.
We guarantee interviews on the BDS course for those students who have performed exceptionally well in the final year of the Dental Hygiene and Therapy course at The University of Manchester. Details of this scheme are published internally for eligible students.Programme Structure

- Typical A-level offer: AAB (including specific subjects).
- Typical contextual A-level offer: BBB (including Biology).
- Refugee/care-experienced offer: Applicants who have been in local authority care for more than three months or have refugee status may be eligible for an offer two grades below the standard requirements.
- Typical International Baccalaureate offer: We require 34 points overall, including 6,5,5 in the higher level subjects (including Biology at higher Level). If Maths and English Language are not offered as part of the Diploma, they should be offered at GCSE or IGCSE at grade C (4) or above. We accept both Maths options as part of the Diploma.
