General requirements

  • In addition to meeting minimum 2.75 GPA and the PRAXIS Core requirement (or equivalents) in order to be admitted into the undergraduate teacher preparation program, students must also complete the Virginia Communication and Literacy Assessment (VCLA), Reading for Virginia Educators Assessment (RVE), Special Education Exit Exam, a background clearance check, child abuse training, dyslexia awareness training, and be certified in First Aid/CPR prior to teacher candidate internship (i.e. student teaching).
  • Application and $50 fee.
  • All prior Secondary/High School or College/University transcripts along with Diploma or Leaving Certificate.
  • Demonstrated English Language Proficiency.
  • Financial Documentation (seeking F/J visas only).
  • Passport identification page.
  • SAT/ACT standardized exams are optional, though highly recommended.
