What to expect from studying this Community Health and Human Service program

As you begin the program, we'll sit down with you to help you determine your career goals. Based on those goals, you'll choose a concentration of either community health or human services. In community health, you'll learn about policies, programs, anatomy, and nutrition for the well-being of both individuals and communities. If you choose human services, which is offered both online and on campus, we'll cover topics such as case management, public policy, and intervention.

Gain hands-on experience with one of UAB's Birmingham partners, including the Alabama Department of Mental Health, Crisis Center of Birmingham, AIDS Alabama, the Red Barn, and the American Red Cross.
The The University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Education is home to the Community Counseling Clinic, which provides mental health services to Birmingham—and recently saw its 1,000th patient.
