Key Features

The Studio Art program from Texas State University has seven specializations.

These specializations provide outstanding opportunities for students to focus in a specific area such as Ceramics, Drawing, Expanded Media, Metals, Painting, Printmaking, and Sculpture, as well as to bridge their area of focus with other interests and mediums within the Studio program. Every area of specialization culminates in two semesters of Thesis work, a final Thesis Portfolio, and a BFA Thesis Exhibition. The Studio Art program serves a wide range of student interests and pursuits, and prepares students for professional careers as artists and arts professionals.

The Studio Art - Ceramics Concentration program from Texas State University is broadly based, encompassing both pottery and sculpture executed in a full range of construction techniques, ceramic materials and firing methods. Ceramics students employ clay and its processes to explore how objects communicate, visually and tactilely, and to realize their personal potential for creative thinking and expression. Advanced work in ceramics becomes progressively more self-initiated and individualized. Through a continuous critical and intuitive dialog with the work they produce, students gain increased self-knowledge and creative growth.

When reviewing your application, Texas State will consider your high school curriculum, admission essay(s), extracurricular involvement, leadership, community service, work experience, quality and competitive level of courses taken and grades earned, in addition to other factors presented in your application.
We strongly encourage anyone who is not offered freshman admission to attend another college, complete 30 hours of transferable credit with a minimum GPA of a 2, and apply for transfer admission.
