Overview
Starting salaries for physical therapists can vary considerably based on location, type of facility, experience level, and degree. A salary survey by APTA in 2016 reported a median income of $67,000 for physical therapists with 0-3 years experience. For 2016, the BLS reported a median salary of $85,000 for experienced physical therapists.
The Rangos School, with more than 800 students and 60 full-time faculty members, is one of the largest health sciences schools in the country with a national reputation for excellence in clinical instruction, research, and advocacy.
The curriculum is six years for students admitted as a freshman, with no application to the professional phase required. here are two tracks PT students can follow - new freshmen choose their track in early May of their senior year of high school before fall registration occurs. All PT students complete the same fundamental science courses (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, A&P, Psychology and Statistics), and the same general education requirements (Bridges Common Learning Experience). The remainder of the pre-professional phase courses differ between the two tracks:
- Biology Track - after the spring of the 4th year, students who choose this track receive two Bachelor's degrees, a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences and a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Biology.
- Health Sciences Track - after the spring of the 4th year, students who choose this track receive a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences.

- A GPA of 3.0 or better
- Achieved an ACT score of 24 or an SAT score (Math + Verbal) of 1170 or better.
- Documentation of shadowing, volunteer, or paid experience in physical therapy (40 hours to be completed before the start of the freshman year).
- Graduate of an approved secondary school
- Eight units of math and science: Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus - recommended but not required, General Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics -recommended but not required
