Overview
The Pastoral Ministry programme at Lee University is designed to equip the next generation of spiritual leaders with the theological foundations and practical skills necessary for effective service. Students at Lee University engage in a rigorous curriculum that balances academic study with hands-on experience in various ministerial contexts.
This programme prepares individuals to serve as lead, associate, or assistant pastors by teaching them to develop ministry principles based on strict biblical guidelines. The curriculum covers a broad range of essential topics, including homiletics, worship leadership, systematic theology, pastoral counselling, and organisational management.
For those seeking a multi-disciplinary approach, the university offers a Vocational Track.
Why Pastoral Ministry at Lee University?
Lee University is consistently ranked in the "Top Tier" of Best Regional Universities in the South by U.S. News and World Report. As one of the largest Christ-centered private institutions in the region, it provides a distinctive teaching environment where faith and academic excellence are seamlessly integrated.
Students benefit from unique experiential learning opportunities such as Weekend Sunday Shadowing. This initiative allows majors to visit local churches to interact with staff and "shadow" active pastors to observe the behind-the-scenes functions of a ministry. Students complete four of these events during their studies.
The School of Theology & Ministry offers global perspectives through study abroad opportunities in Israel and benevolence trips to Honduras. Additionally, selected students may participate in a three-week inner-city immersion experience in Chicago, supported by the Scholl Foundation, to broaden their understanding of urban ministry.
