At Salve Regina University, they empower students to give back through their craft. It’s about discovering who you are, who others are and what others need from you as a theater artist.

In line with Salve's mission, they ask how theater can be an act of mercy and reflect on our own practices of equity, identity and representation - and their impact on the world.

Key Features

Empathy is at the heart of the Theatre Arts program, with an atmosphere that encourages risk-taking and encounters that challenge students to dig for understanding and self-awareness. They also offer concentrations in acting, musical theater or technical theater.

The students receive high-quality production and skill-based performance training and learn how theater can impact the lives of those around them, preparing them for careers in traditional theater and performance as well as political science, communications, advocacy and education. They offer optional concentrations in acting, musical theatre or technical theatre.

General requirements

Submit via the Common Application.

$50 application fee.

Official high school transcript, including grades from the senior year.

Two letters of recommendation (one from a school counselor and one from the teacher of your choice).

Personal essay.

SAT/ACT scores are optional for all applicants. Students who do not submit scores will not be disadvantaged in the admissions process. If English is not your first language, the results from a TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo English proficiency test are required.

Students applying for dance, music or theatre are required to submit an audition.

Students applying for the studio art or technical theatre majors are required to submit a portfolio of 1-5 pieces through their student status page.

Home-schooled applicants must submit a transcript and school profile when following a prescribed curriculum. In cases where that is not available, applicants may submit a copy of all course descriptions and a portfolio of work.
