Overview

Graduates of the Engineering Physics - Mechanical Applications program of the Southeast Missouri State University work in almost all sectors of the engineering industry. You can find jobs in aerospace, automotive, chemical, construction, electronics, or metal industries, and more. Examples of job titles include mechanical engineer, industrial engineer, automotive engineer and technical sales engineer.

100% of Southeast programs offer real-world experience. Mechanical Applications students earn this experience through using modern tools used throughout the curriculum that are necessary for physics and engineering careers. Students may also do an internship to gain more experience in the field.

What You'll Do

Obtain a deep understanding of the fundamental principles of science and mathematics underlying engineering and be able to apply them to meet the needs of society

Have the ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability

Have the ability to use the techniques, skills, and modern tools necessary for physics and engineering careers.

Have the broad education necessary to understand the impact of physics and engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental, and societal context.

Be well prepared to pass the FE Exam.

Successful completion of Level 5 of Southeast’s IEP.

English proficiency tests

Diploma from a U.S. high school

Diploma from an international school with U.S. regional accreditation

Diploma from IB curriculum school whose sole medium of instruction is English

Diploma from a non-U.S. high school/secondary education where English language is the sole medium of instruction.

SAT test score of 450 or higher on the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing section.

A score of 21 or better Combined English/Writing score on the ACT Plus Writing test

Successful completion of Level 112 in the ELS Language School
