The Sociology program at St. Lawrence University includes: why societies develop, are maintained, and/or change; the socio-historical context of social phenomena; how race, ethnicity, class, gender, sexuality, and other signifiers of "difference" affect structural arrangements and personal experience; and how social relations and processes operate at local, regional, national, and global levels.
Students have the opportunity to participate in community-based learning, off-campus study, internships, and independent research related to a variety of topics within sociology including social media, technology, health, aging, race, politics, development, migration, political economy, the environment, and food systems.
