About Interdisciplinary Studies at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts
The Interdisciplinary Studies program provides you with the critical thinking, research, and writing skills that prepare you for life as a successful and responsible citizen in an increasingly interconnected world. Interdisciplinary Studies majors select MCLA courses in close collaboration with an Interdisciplinary Studies faculty advisor.
The programme
You take four classes taught by IDST faculty members, and complete your program with classes in different disciplines across campus. The program offers internship opportunities and concludes with a senior seminar.

- Common Application
- Official high school transcript, including first quarter senior grades and any transcripts for college level courses taken (such as dual enrollment or early college courses). MCLA must receive verification of your high school diploma before you enroll.
- SAT I or ACT scores (MCLA's College Board code is 3521 and ACT code is 1908). The SAT essay portion is optional.
- Personal Statement/Essay (250 - 650 words, optional but highly recommended)
