Overview

Southeastern Louisiana University has a lot to offer, whether you plan to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in History, Political Science, or Social Studies Education, or any of our available graduate and minor programs. Many of our faculty members have national reputations for their scholarship. Our classes are relatively small in size but are dynamic in character.

Southeastern's History program prepares students for careers in history, law and other disciplines that require knowledge of how the past affects the present and future. Students in the program learn to read intelligently, think analytically, write clearly, assess past trends, predict future developments and understand the real world as they prepare for virtually any career or graduate study.

General Requirements

To be eligible for full admission to Southeastern, international beginning freshmen students must meet ALL of the following criteria:Must have completed a recognized secondary school program with a minimum Grade Point Average of 2.35.Must have taken the TOEFL or IELTS *:

  • Minimum IELTS score required - 6.0 overall band
  • Minimum TOEFL scores required - 500 paper-based, 173 computer-based, and 61 internet based
  • Minimum TOEFL scores required - 500 paper-based, 173 computer-based, and 61 internet based 
Must have taken the ACT or SAT:
  • Minimum Verbal SAT of 450 or minimum 460 in Math (old format)
  • Minimum Writing and Language of 25 or 500 in Math (new format
  • Minimum English ACT of 18 or minimum Math ACT of 19
