Overview

The Interior Design program from Georgia Southern University currently has over 200 major students, taught by five full-time interior design professors. The student/faculty ratio is low, enabling professors to give students individual attention.

Typical studio courses have a maximum of 24 students. The faculty works closely with students as advisors and mentors. The design faculty hold advanced degrees in interior design or architecture. There is a range of expertise, as well certifications like NCIDQ and LEED, and professional memberships in groups such as ASID, IIDA and IDEC.

What can I do with a major in interior design?

The three main interior design career paths typically include residential, commercial and specialized design. Employment opportunities are growing in architectural firms, design groups, retail stores, manufacturer’s showrooms, wholesale markets, real estate developers and specialty areas emphasizing furnishings, textiles or household products.
