Overview
The Biology- Biomedical, Cellular, and Molecular programme at Central Michigan University offers an intensive exploration into the fundamental building blocks of life. Students engage with complex biological systems through a curriculum that balances theoretical knowledge with sophisticated practical application in modern laboratory settings.
This course is specifically designed to prepare undergraduates for the rigours of professional entrance examinations, including the MCAT, GRE, and DAT. By focusing on cellular interactions and molecular biology, the curriculum ensures that graduates possess the technical expertise required for high-level scientific inquiry.
The academic structure encourages students to participate in research projects alongside expert faculty members.
Why Biology- Biomedical, Cellular, and Molecular at Central Michigan University?
Students benefit from the university's status as a Carnegie-classified doctoral research institution, providing access to high-level investigations in genetics and physiology. The department is housed in a 169,000-square-foot Biosciences Building, which represents a significant investment in modern scientific infrastructure.
Facilities include a 5,000-square-foot aquatic vivarium and a herbarium containing over 26,000 samples, offering diverse resources for biological study. Furthermore, the university operates a biological station on Beaver Island, providing a unique freshwater ecosystem for field-based learning and research opportunities.
The department also supports its students through substantial financial aid, offering more than $60,000 in departmental scholarships annually. Students can further enhance their professional network by joining specialised organisations such as Beta Beta Beta, Campus Grow, or The Wildlife Society.
