If insects intrigue you then the Biochemistry – Entomology program at Mississippi State University will suit you well. Entomologists are needed in a variety of fields including agriculture, chemistry, biology, human/animal health, molecular science, criminology, and forensics.

Entomologists detect the role of insects in the spread of disease and discover new ways to protect food and fiber crops, and livestock from being damaged. They also promote beneficial insects which contribute to the well being of humans, animals, and plants.

Career Opportunities and Professional School Information

Biochemists, molecular biologists, entomologists, and plant pathologies are employed in a variety of industries concerned with genetic engineering, human and animal nutrition, processing of foods, development of drugs and other medications, manufacture of chemicals for a wide range of uses, in ecological studies, and also in the area of sales for biochemical products. They also participate in laboratory research in universities and colleges, in research institutes, in hospitals, forensic laboratories and in government installations.

Freshman Students

Certified, translated copies of all transcripts, mark sheets, and diplomas from your school. Mississippi State recommends all school credentials from non-U.S. institutions be submitted through a National Association of Credential Evaluation Services member for a course-by-course evaluation with grade point average calculation.
An official ACT score of 20 or higher, or SAT score of 1030 (only if your GPA is below 3.0 based on our evaluation of your transcripts OR if you are applying for scholarships).
