Biological technician: Technicians have an undergraduate degree in biology and work in laboratories assisting other scientists. As a biological technician, you may collect data, conduct experiments or analyze samples in a laboratory or a field setting. Conservation scientist: Conservation scientists may be employed by government agencies, non-profits or private companies. These professionals focus on managing land to protect the environment while allowing for land use such as ranching, logging or public access. Microbiologist: Microbiologists focus on some of the smallest living organisms, such as bacteria and viruses. Microbiologists often work alongside of health care professionals or in laboratory environments, and may specialize in a certain area of microbiology such as industrial settings or public health or on a certain type of organism, such as fungi. General requirements

To be admitted to an undergraduate degree program as a regular freshman student, you must be a graduate from an approved or accredited high school (GED certificate may not be used for admission) and satisfy the below requirements:

Required high school courses: English, math, social sciences and natural sciences.

You must have a 3.0 weighted GPA in the academic core courses (AGPA) in order to be admitted to the University of Nevada, Reno. The academic courses include: English, math, social sciences and natural sciences.

Standardized test scores are not required for admission to the University of Nevada, Reno. The University accepts the ACT and SAT scores and may use scores for class placement in first-year courses.
If you are a student who does not meet the academic GPA requirements, but have graduated with an Advanced Diploma from a Nevada high school, you will be granted admission to the University.
