Description
The Broadening Horizons Award was introduced to increase participation in international mobility opportunities among students from underrepresented backgrounds. Funding can be used for eligible study abroad activities, work placements, summer exchanges, electives, field trips, and internships.
Benefits
Travel and mobility grant of approximately £250–£900, depending on financial need, destination, activity length, and available funding.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Are in receipt of the King's Living Bursary in the year the activity takes place
- Are in receipt of a means-tested NHS bursary
- Have taken part in K+
- Have taken part in a Realising Opportunities or a Sutton Trust Summer School
- Are mature learners completing their first degrees
- Are care experienced, young carers, or estranged students
- Are holders of the Sanctuary Scholarship
- Are Gypsy, Roma, or Traveller students
- Have a Disability requiring additional financial support to study abroad
- Are completing the Extended Medical Degree Programme or the Enhanced Support Dentistry Programme
