The Faculty of Art, Design & Architecture started life as Kingston Art School in the 1890s and it’s a heritage that we are very proud of. We have retained many of the traditional disciplines and facilities from that period: fine art studios, printmaking, sculpture, bronze casting, and a traditional workshop area. We believe that you learn best by trying things out and experiencing them for yourself. We call this hands-on approach ‘thinking through making’.
However, we are now part of a modern university with an international reputation and connections and as such we have a wealth of cutting edge facilities and resources. We have one of the best 3D workshops in the country! The philosophy we try to adopt here at Kingston is that of blending traditional skills and expertise with the latest technology. Over recent years we have invested over £12million in facilities and resources to support that focus.
Our staff are practitioners in their specialisms so you’ll be taught by professionals and we have a wealth of industry connections and partners
Is it for you?
Kingston might not be for everybody!
We are looking for the best, brightest and most hard working students. We will push you but support you while we do so. We want you to challenge norms, push boundaries and achieve excellence and many of our students do exactly that – across all disciplines.
