In 1987 the name changed to Coventry Polytechnic and in 1992 the University was set up under UK Government legislation, as laid out in the University’s Instrument and Articles of Government.The Lanchester name has been preserved in the title of the art gallery, the Lanchester Gallery, as well as in the Lanchester Library.

Studying at Coventry University as an international student has been a big learning experience for me. I joined in the January 2026 intake for Construction Management with BIM. Until now, I have completed two modules, and my journey has been both a bit exciting and stressful at the same time. Before coming to the UK, I was very nervous about many things. I had pressure about my visa process, finances, accommodation, and adapting to a new country. Like many international students, I spent a lot of time overthinking questions such as, Will I manage my studies?, Will I make friends?, and Can I handle the workload and part-time job together? The whole process was emotionally challenging because everything was new. After arriving in Coventry, the first few weeks were not easy as I was late in joining my module, Managing assignments was a bigger task, understanding the university system, and adjusting to academic writing style in the UK took time, the accent was a big trouble maker. In my course, Construction Management with BIM, there is a good mix of technical and practical learning. The modules require regular research, teamwork, presentations, and meeting deadlines, which can create pressure if you do not manage your time properly. One thing I noticed is that international students often feel stressed because of balancing studies with personal responsibilities. Sometimes there is loneliness, homesickness, and fear of failure. During assignment deadlines, overthinking becomes very common, especially when you want good grades and also need to adjust to a different education system. However, the university environment is supportive. The lecturers are helpful and encourage students to ask questions. The library and study spaces are good for focused learning, and there are many students from different countries, which helps you feel more comfortable over time. Overall, my experience at Coventry University has helped me become more independent and confident. Even though there are challenges, pressure, and stressful moments, studying here is helping me grow personally and professionally. I would recommend future international students to be mentally prepared, manage their time well, and stay positive during difficult periods.
