Located in the center of Paris, the American Graduate School in Paris (AGS) offers US higher education programs, taught in English, to students from around the world. AGS specializes in international relations, diplomacy, and related areas, leading to a broad range of careers in international affairs, from government to intergovernmental organizations, to NGOs and the private sector.

History

The American Graduate School of International Relations and Diplomacy - already going by the short acronym AGS - was registered with the French Ministry of Education on January 27th, 1994. It inaugurated its M.A. in International Relations and Diplomacy in the summer of 1994, in a classroom in the 16th district of Paris. The 5 students who made up that first class were from 5 different countries.

Education

For students interested in pursuing or advancing their career in international affairs, whether in government, international organizations, nonprofit, or international business, the American Graduate School in Paris offers programs specializing in international relations, diplomacy, international business, and related areas. Two types of programs are available: degree programs (at the graduate level only) and part-time non-degree programs, including certificate programs and study abroad in Paris.

Housing services

The typical AGS students' housing experience consists of a small individual studio within Paris, allowing you to live like a real Parisian and enjoy all that the city has to offer. Depending on your budget and the type of experience that you are looking for, you may also consider other options such as shared residence with other students, homestay with a French family, or a less expensive studio in one of the close suburbs.

Library services

The library's mission is to provide AUP students, faculty and staff with the information resources they require for the pursuit of their educational interests. Medical services

  • EU nationals should obtain a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) prior to coming to France
  • All other students, regardless of their nationality, may benefit from the French public health insurance

  • If you are over 28, you are eligible to the Couverture Maladie Universelle (CMU), a free state-provided health insurance, which will be done by each student individually

Campus life

Yet far more than the location of the school, Paris is woven into the programs. Through our reputation and connections, we provide privileged access to this international scene in Paris through internships, guest talks, site visits, and a full calendar of academic and social events. All of these represent enriching experiences, as well as excellent networking opportunities.

Student clubs

The mission of the AGS Alumni Association is to maintain and nurture a liaison among the worldwide community of AGS alumni, former students, current students, faculty, board, administrators and friends. It provides support collectively to the community and individually to each of its members. It seeks to foster pride, engagement and the continuing involvement of the community members in AGS and in the values that it represents: tolerance,diversity,awareness, civic engagement.

  • The American Graduate School in Paris (AGS) is registered with the French Ministry of Education as a Private Institution of Higher Education (Etablissement Français d’Enseignement Supérieur).
  • It is also recognized by the French government as a Nonprofit Organization of General Interest (Association à but non lucratif reconnue d’intérêt général.)
