The first enterprise for agricultural education during the Ottoman State started when Mekteb-i Zirai Şahane (imperial agricultural school) was founded in 1848 in Yeşilköy district. However, due to various reasons, the school was closed in its second year.

A decree in 1867 made it necessary to open an agricultural school and farm samples in the centre of each city. However, there was no action taken on that up until 1884. With a code of practice that came out in 1884, the process of opening agricultural schools started. In those years, Ziraat Müdür-i Umumiye was founded as part of the Trade Inspection.

Student services

The International Students Office and its staff assist and guide international students from freshman to alumni. Students become familiar with the student Office at the beginning of their university life at IZU. They are welcome to come and ask advice with issues they face on and off campus (visa, residence permit etc.)

The campus is 5 Miles away from the Atatürk International Airport and only a mile away from shopping malls (Mall of Istanbul). Just outside the university’s main doors there is a few supermarkets, cafes, hairdressers and parks.

The campus is huge and great to spend time in while the administration is really bad. It is after all funded by conservative people so there aren't many fun things or clubs. finding like-minded people could be a hassle but when you do hold on to them. Courses and instructors are amazing for the education department but the language courses the university is offering are...

Great Campus Bad classrooms with 180 student in my year and with bellow the average staff except some great professors there Like Pro. Oktay CANSU I learned a lot from him
