A-State was founded as the First District Agricultural School in Jonesboro in 1909 by the Arkansas Legislature as a regional agricultural training school. Robert W. Glover, a Missionary Baptist pastor who served in both houses of the Arkansas Legislature from Sheridan, introduced in 1909 the resolution calling for the establishment of four state agricultural colleges, including the future ASU.

A-State's Student Health Center (SHC) provides an array of medical services including treatment of minor illnesses and injuries, physical exams, immunizations, both female and male exams,birth control, and other prescription medications. Students may be referred to other facilities for additional laboratory tests, x-rays, diagnostic imaging, counseling, or specialized services as deemed necessary.

Arkansas State University is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association (NCA) of Colleges and Schools. A-State was first accredited in 1928 and has had continuous accreditation since that time.
I love the dedication from my professors but there are not a lot of financial aid from the university
